Historical Information

previous hit Mathews  next hit previous hit County  next hit was named for Thomas previous hit Mathews  next hit, of Norfolk, the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates in 1790 when the previous hit county  next hit was formed from Gloucester previous hit County  next hit.

The board of supervisors has been the chief administrative body of the previous hit county  next hit since its establishment. The board's duties are fixed by statute and are primarily concerned with maintenance and construction of previous hit county  next hit buildings and fiscal matters.

Most records were burned in Richmond on 3 April 1865, where they had been moved for safekeeping during the Civil War.
